Paul Richard Keslar, 88, of Tarrs, formerly of West Newton, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant.

Born Oct. 15, 1917, in Scottdale, he was the son of the late Richard S. and Leona B. (Biestel) Keslar.

Paul was the co-owner of the West Newton Hardware with his brother-in-law, Vernon C. Queer, from 1950 to 1982. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the West Newton Lions Club.

He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army with the 94th Infantry Division.

He is survived by his wife, Frances (Poole) Keslar; two daughters, Daunice L. Keslar, of West Newton, and Paula J. Keslar, M.D., of Charleston, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Grace Phillippi; and a brother-in-law, Hilton Murphy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Loverne (Saylor) Keslar, in 1975; and two sisters, Vera Jean Queer and Virginia Murphy.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with Dr. Glen F. Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Donegal Cemetery.
