Bessie "Atwell" was born in November of 1913 in Graham, Texas. She lived most of her life in Bradley with her husband, Ray Brown. They owned the only Texaco Station in Bradley and served the whole community.
Atwell also worked for many years as the librarian at Monterey County Library, Bradley Branch. She was a respected member of the library community.
A celebration of life was held Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Kuel-Nicolay Funeral Chapel in Paso Robles, CA. Officating was Jim Newton, a nephew.
Preceding her in death was her husband Raymond Brown. She is survived by a daughter Dorothy and grandchildren.
