David Drake Randolph was born December 14, 1870 in Albion, Wisconsin, the son of Brazilla and Rachel Randolph. He arrived in Alfred NY at the age of 6 and remained there until his death.
The Alfred Sun reported that he attended Alfred Academy and became a local merchant, operating a grocery store where the music studio and later Coon's Grocery was located. His advertising of a full line of school supplies appeared in early student handbooks at Alfred.
On June 3, 1903, David Randolph married Viola Olmstead and they made their home on North Main Street. He was a trustee of the Village of Alfred and in 1924 was elected to the office of president, which he held for four years. He was a member of the First Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church, a Director of the Alfred Mutual Savings and Loan Association, and a Director of the Alfred Rural Cemetery Association.
Mr. Randolph died at age 68 after a short illness of pneumonia. Funeral services were held at his home by his pastor, Rev. A. Clyde Ehret. Surviving him was his wife and a nephew, Edward Randolph of Albion, Wisconsin.
