Shreveport, LA - Memorial services honoring the life of James Conway Bozeman, Sr., will be held on December 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Spring Lake Chapel, 8622 Line Avenue. Pastor Brian Opbroek of Shreveport Community Church will be officiating.
James Conway Bozeman passed away on November 21, 2012, at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Naomi Jean Bozeman and two sons Barron and his wife, Diane, from Mesquite, TX and Gene, from Shreveport, LA; one daughter, Gerelyn Reaves, from Frisco, TX; one daughter-in-law Fay and husband Ron Tooley from Washougal, WA; one brother, Karl and wife, Jorene, from Mesquite, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mandy and husband, Mike Daley of Camas, Washington, Brian Bozeman of Dallas, TX, and Blake and wife, Dulce, Bozeman of McKinney, TX; Kim Kinney, Kathy Henley and husband Paul, Karen Moss and husband John, Kayla Gassiott and husband Mike. He is survived by four greatgrandchildren, Jazlyn, Kiana and Jacey Daley and Braylen Tomas Bozeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and one son, James Conway Bozeman, Jr.
He was born on March 12, 1920, in Longstreet, LA to Jessie Lee and Lillie Ethel Bryant Bozeman; one of seven children. He graduated from Longstreet High School.
James joined the Air Force in 1941; after his discharge, he returned to Shreveport. He was employed by Binswainger Glass and then the US Postal Service, where he retired after 35 years.
He was a member of Shreveport Community Church since 1986 - active in the Wise and Wonderful Senior group and a volunteer at the church distribution center. He was a big fan of the Evangel Eagle football team and an avid gardener.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Bozeman, Blake Bozeman, Ron Tooley, Michael Gassiott, Paul Henley, David Norcross and James Thomason.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Distribution Center of the Shreveport Community Church, 5720 Buncombe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71109, or a charity of your choice.
