LEAD - Ruth C. Cassidy, 59, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.
She was born December 11, 1943, in Spearfish, SD, to David P. and Ella M. (Gaughan) Yanzick, Sr.
She was raised on a dairy farm near Spearfish and attended school in Spearfish. She also attended St. Martin's Academy for two years and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1962.
On November 27, 1962, Ruth married Patrick J. Cassidy.
They made their home in Lead, SD, where they owned and operated Pat's Sinclair from 1971 until the present. Ruth entered the Belle Fourche Long Term Care Center on July 17, 1997.
She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and the Craft Club in Lead, SD. Most of all Ruth enjoyed taking care of her family.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick J. Cassidy of Lead, SD; a son, Kenneth John Cassidy of Albuquerque, NM, and a daughter, Kimberly Ann Cassidy of Colorado Springs, CO; a granddaughter, Chelsea Cassidy of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, David Yanzick, St. Onge, SD; and her sister, Mary Mattila of Belle Fourche, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sally.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish, with Rev. Matt Fallgren officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain Lawn Cemetery in Lead, SD.
A memorial has been established to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
The Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish has been entrusted with the arrangements.
