Ruth Esther Pifer, age 95, of Canal Winchester, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Grant Hospital. She was born November 28, 1916, to the late Virgil and Gertrude (Barnhart) Tallman. Ruth was a graduate of Canal Winchester High School and Miami University, where she was a member of Mortar Board, Hughes Society and Alpha Omicron Pi Social Sorority. She was a lifetime member of David's United Church of Christ in Canal Winchester. Ruth retired as an Insurance Company Executive.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin and one sister, Helen (Tallman) Fisher.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Pifer; son, James (Jan) Pifer; grandchildren, Tippi (Bill) Hickey and Liz McBee; and great grandchildren, Johnathan and Evelyn Hickey and Gabe McBee.
Family will receive friends 3:00-4:00 pm, Thursday, at David's United Church of Christ, 80 W. Columbus St., Canal Winchester, where a memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm, Pastors David and Beth Long-Higgins officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Union Grove Cemetery.
