I've been working on my genealogy since 1979, and it has been a labor of love.
I guess you could say that I'm addicted to it.

Being home bound has pretty much limited some of the other hobbies. I used to love to sew,do crafts, church activities, ham radio, read.

I was born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Grady William Cunningham
Hi-
Please put me in touch with any Cunningham family members related ro Grady William Cunningham who are researching Cunningham family history and genealogy. Grady had a connection to Lawrence County, Arkansas, as did my grandfather John A. Cunningham (1857-1934). Grady and his wife Helen are buried at Woodland Memorial Cemetery In Sand Springs, Tulsa County, OK, as is my grandfather John and his wife Rosa.
Thanks for your time,

RE: John H. Cunningham
You're welcome; I will finish clearing out brush/canopy at that family plot next week, and will be able to post better pictures.

Cunninghams in Walnut Ridge
Greetings-

My name is Bruce Cunningham and I was born March 25, 1934 in Sand Springs, Tulsa County, OK. I noticed your name and e-mail while viewing the Find A Grave website for the Woodland Cemetery in Sand Springs. My grandfather is John A. Cunningham (born 1857-1859 in Newport, Jackson County, AR) who died in Sand Springs in October 1934.

I noticed that some of your kin are buried in Walnut Ridge, Lawrence County, Arkansas. My grandfather John A. Cunningham married Nancy Mariah Grigsby Hutcherson in Lawrence County, AR, in November 1884. They were later divorced and he married my grandmother-to-be, Rosa Matthews Hays, in Indian Territory in 1898.

My wife and I visited Irene Bowie Grigsby Bowie (now deceased-who had done extensive genealogy research) some years back in Walnut Ridge. Irene was very helpful to me in my family research and she was positive that my grandfather John had family connections in the Walnut Ridge and Lawrence County. Please see my information below and tell me if you see a connection between your Cunningham line and mine. Thanksa for your time.

According to my grandfather John Anner Cunningham's death certificate, his parents were Lewis B. Cunningham (born in Tennessee-don't know which county, presumably between 1830-1840) and Martha Younger Cunningham (born in Missouri presumably between 1830-1849). Lewis' middle initial probably was for: "Ben" or "Benjamin." Their children were: George W. Cunningham, John Anner Cunningham, and Alice or Fannie
Cunningham. John's death certificate was signed by his oldest son, Otis Kendall Cunningham (1900-1950).

I'm looking for a connection to the family of my grandfather, John Anner Cunningham, born in December between 1857 and 1859 in Newport, Jackson County, AR, and died in Sand Springs, Tulsa County, OK in October 1934, when I was seven months old. My dad told me that Grandfather John often bragged of his Irish roots.

John married Nancy Mariah Grigsby Hutcherson in November 1884 in Lawrence County, AR, and they later divorced (one daughter Norah Latha or Latha Norah Cunningham) and he married Rosa Matthews Hays (my grandmother-to-be) in September 1898 in Ardmore, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory (now Carter County, OK).

Grandmother Rosa was born in Augusta, Hancock County, Illinois, in February 1868 and died in Tulsa (near Sand Springs), Tulsa County, OK, in March 1943. Her first husband, Charles J. Hays, a cattleman whom she married in Chautauqua County, KS, in November 1885, died in January 1895 at Light's Ranch near Chickasha, Grady County, OK, when their son Thomas was seven.

Rosa had a sister Harriett "Hattie" Matthews, born in Illinois in 1866, and four older brothers: Daniel; James Preston; Joab; and William. All but Daniel lived in Osage, Lincoln, Payne, and other nearby counties in OK. Hattie married Marion Park Fowler in Erie, Neosho County, KS, in 1883.

Rosa was married to John Cunningham until he died in 1934 and their children were: Otis Kendall Cunningham, born in Ardmore, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, in 1898 and died in Richmond, California in 1950; Charles Hubert Cunningham, born in Joplin, Jasper County, MO, in 1903 and died in Sand Springs, Tulsa County, OK, in 1965; Rubye Maye Cunningham, born in 1905 in Cleveland, Indian Territory (now Pawnee County, OK); and my father, Marion Wilshire Cunningham, born in or near Hominy, Osage County, OK, in 1908. Dad later changed his name to William Marion Cunningham.

Do you see a connection between your family and mine?

Thanks for your time,

Bruce Cunningham
