RE: Entering children without memorials
OK, burial location unknown. This is how I do it:
on the left hand column of the page under ACTIONS go to the 4th one down "add burial records".

There are like 4 choices -- you want the Family & Friends (Old) in the upper right hand corner in blue type. Click on it.

Add the name, any dates you have, Any bio info you have, and then when you get to the burial section you MUST select a state, county, and cemetery. Just put them in one of your local cemeteries you are familiar with (we will change all of this shortly). Click the save or continue button at the bottom.

You will then see their memorial page but it will list the place you said they were buried. On the lower left part of the memorial page there will be a burial [edit] link right above the cemetery name. Click on the [edit]

This will bring up a window that lets you click on "Burial information unknown at this time". Click the radio button on the left. Then click continue or save (don't remember what it says) at the bottom of the window.

You go back to the memorial page and it should say beside Burial: unknown (no cemetery, state/town is listed)

I would suggest you try this with 1 of the children and see how it works.

If you can't get it to work, go to the memorial page you created (you know what cemetery you put them in (remember that) and click the delete button on the upper right side of the memorial page. It will delete the entire memorial page.

RE: Entering children without memorials
OK, the first part....adding children that you do not know where they are buried and they do not have memorial pages. There are a couple of things you can do. On the parents memorial pages I would click on "add bio" which is right under the dates. There you could type in a small blurb about each child, DOB, DOD if known, who they married etc. Note that their date and/or place of burial is unknown. Then before you click the save at the bottom, highlight your whole paragraph or whatever you entered about the kids, RIGHT click your mouse (right button) and select "copy".

Then go to the other parent's page, go to "add bio" and put the cursor there and right click and select "paste". All the info should be on each of the parent's pages then.

There is a way to add a memorial page for someone you do not know where they are buried. I have done it. Only problem is I need to go out and look to see for sure how to do it. I will get back to you with the information. You can then make a memorial page for them without a cemetery listed. The only way someone would find them is to do a general search for the name. I'll get back to you with that.

RE: Entering children without memorials
Lets answer the last part first. For example when you link 3 siblings memorial pages to the parents pages, all 3 show up on the parents pages. Also All 3 children's names should show up on each of the children's pages. And the parents show on each of the children's pages IF YOU LINK EACH CHILD TO THE PARENTS. If you are on Child#1's page you will see Child#2 and Child#3's names plus you will see Child#1's name although it is dimmed/very light grey print, since you are looking at Child#1's page. This is somewhat new in Find A Grave since Ancestry took over.

RE: Transferred memorials
Sure, good question. You get the kids to show up on the parents memorial page by going to the kids page and clicking on the 'family link' (it is usually in blue print on the left side of the memorial below the date area.

Make sure you have the memorial number for the father and the mother BEFORE you go to the kids page. When you click on the 'family link' a box will come up and you can enter the father's number and mother's number. If the child had a spouse that is deceased this is also where you put in the spouse of the child.

If you are not the manager of the child's memorial, you cannot add the parents number (link). You would then have to send the parents number to whomever is the manager of the child's memorial page. If they are in Oliver and you want to be the manager and they are my memorials, I will transfer them to you. Just tell me the names.

Also if you ARE the manager of the children's memorial page, you DO NOT have to be the manager of the parents pages. You can still link them on the child's page.

Let's go back to the parent memorial page for a second. You would need the wife's memorial number or the husband's memorial number. Click on one of them (husband or wife) and enter the spouse's number there.

YOU HAVE TO BE THE Find A Grave CONTRIBUTOR 'manager' of the memorial in order to add numbers onto a memorial page. The 4 I transferred to you, you are the manager for them. If you add a new memorial to Find A Grave, you are the manager.

Example: if you are the manager of the husband's page but NOT the wife's page. Get her number and go to the husband's page and link him to his spouse. You do NOT have to be the manager of both memorials to link them.

Play around with this, you will figure it out. Just takes some experimenting. Let me know if you have other questions.

transferred memorials
I have now transferred the Wallace and McCoy memorial pages to you. Since you were new to Find A Grave I thought I would help you get the information onto the memorials before I transferred them. Now you can go in and change or add anything you want. Good luck with your geneology work. Glad to help you out.

Yes they arrived and I just opened them Havn't done anything with them yet. The "other" button allows you to type whatever you want but it does send as an e-mail. I can copy/paste as necessary.

RE: Ivary McCoy
Your edits were perfect, worked just the way it is supposed to. I approved them all just a minute ago. Send more if you want!

Check your "edits"
Likewise you need to get in the habit of going to your profile and check the Edit tab at the top. It may say Edits (4) or however many you have been sent by someone else. Click on the tab, review the edits. "Accept" is the default selected on the right side of each edit. Scroll to the bottom of the edits and click on the button that says something like "process edits". If there is more than 1 page of edits you have to do each page individually I think.

RE: Additional information on Mary Wallace
I have posted the information you sent. You did have a lot of information so I made it work this way without having to retype it all.

If you have small portions of information you can click on the EDIT button in the upper right hand corner of each memorial page and select the category the information belongs in: name, birth or death date, parent links or spouse link etc. If you have a large portion of information (like your 1st paragraph you sent me, click the OTHER category and you can type it in there.

This is somewhat of a new way to place additional information onto a memorial. It is somewhat automated :) What happens is if you do that on one of my memorial pages that I made, whenever I go to my profile (logged in as: ) in the left column of the memorial page, I will have a tab at the top of my profile page that tells me I have been sent some "edits" I need to make (the ones you send through the EDIT button described above). All I have to do is look at them and click the "process edits" button and the information is automatically added.

With what you sent me I did a lot of copy and pasting, but it worked so that is o.k.

Do send what you can on the McCoy memorial pages through the EDIT button on each of the McCoy memorial pages. I see you are new to Find A Grave so if there are any other questions I can answer feel free to ask me.
Thanks.
