Sorry, I misspoke. I wasn't looking at the funeral notice when I wrote. There is much in the funeral notice about his service as a confederate soldier, though. Sorry, didn't mean to mislead.

I am a great great granddaughter of Jacob Rodrick. I inherited the newspaper article regarding his funeral from my grandfather Charles Rodrick Pole, Sr. This article also stated that he was a courier for Stonewall Jackson.
After my great grandmother Cora Lee Rodrick Pole and her 3 youngest daughters drowned in Whistle Creek in 1901, my grandfather and his sister Linalie went to live with the Rodricks. He was a harsh man, and my grandfather turned out badly. As a result my father, his sister and brother ended up in foster care. My name is Karen Pole Gill and you may reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I can send you a copy of the newspaper article.

In case my e-mail [23 May] did not reach you, I want to be certain you knew I had responded to your inquiry. Unfortunately I do not know of any proof that Jacob was a courier for Stonewall Jackson -- just the engraved notation on his stone by his family. Perhaps Washington & Lee University might have some information in their achieves.
I hope you are finding interesting information on your family.
