THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
~~BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

The image for the monument is low-res, and I'm unable to read the Wedding Date. Can you make it out?

Hi, I am in search of the resting place of their daughter Mary who married Seaborn Pate our 2nd great grandfather, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all of your kind and generous work. I would like to request that you amend/delete the burial listing for my father, James Vernon Minton, in the San Saba City Cemetery. As inscribed on the monument, this is a memorial rather than a headstone commemorating a burial. Sue Minton
Thank you for posting headstone photo for Willie Parkman Adams. Your help is most appreciated.

I really appreciate that you made something for my great great grandma. I have other family members buried in Goldthwaite, but I can never seem to find them.

William Alva Sowders was my great grandfather. I would be happy to maintain his memorial if you so desired. my contributor number is 48339056
Thanks, Wayne Riysseay
Thanks for giving me credit for finding the gravestone. Grace Hardin Taylor was my grandfather's sister. There a quite a few of the Hardin family buried there and also of the Sowders family of my grandmother.

In reference to your bio on Grace Taylor. I was at San Saba cemetery last year in San Saba and managed to find her grave marker. It is in the Taylor family plot. It was almost completely hidden under the grass. I was lucky to find it. While I was there I decided to dig up the marker and raise above the level of the grass. I had very limited tools and helpers with me.If you look at the photos I added to the memorial you will see how I enlisted the help of my wife and our dog to lever up the marker so I could put dirt under it.
