I live in north-west of England, and am trying to trace records of my mom's two uncles, who were both placed in Barnardos in UK, and emigrated to canada in 1911. I believe they both lived in ontario/toronto. I am finding it difficult to trace records of their deaths. Their names were, Robert Hostler Burgess b. 1908 in Cambridgeshire, UK, and Cecil Burgess b. 1899 in Cambridgeshire UK. Barnardos in UK told me they were both alive and living in Toronto in 1944. Robert was emigrated to New Brunswick. Cecil was a labourer for the Schier family in Scott township in 1922. Any help/knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Robert Hostler Burgess

I haven't found anything of yet. I have checked some Toronto cemeteries, some other sites. I will keep you posted if anything significant comes up. I would really like to help you solve this mystery. I live in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, and we actually have a connection to the Barnardo children. Some came here and are buried in our local cemetery..also a street is named for them.

RE: Robert Hostler Burgess

I believe that Robert was born in 1854 and died in 1904. I did find a record of a Robert Burgess who was born December 1920 and died in Wentworth, Ontario on March 24, 1927. His parents were Robert Burgess and Elsia Ward. Do you happen to know when your grandmother was born, what part of England she came from, or her parents names?
