RE: n overton photo
You are most very welcome. It was hard to get to because it was located behind the only house on Overton Road, had to ask the home owner for permission to enter property, then all the way in the back on a dirt hill brushing away the brambles I was able to find it. It was the only headstone I found there.

RE: Joseph and Rebeckah Snelling
There's probably a good chance that Charter Street once ended at Salem Street. Snelling Way isn't far from there and if it was the only house at the time, they could have referred to that as "at the base of Charter Street" (now, of course, twenty buildings are squeezed into that area). Charter Street very well may have been extended over the years to where it is now. Fascinating, isn't it?!

Part of Copps Hill Cemetery runs along Charter Street but Snelling Way is not at the foot of Charter Street (it's actually on the other side of the cemetery off Hull Street) but who knows how things might have been in 1707, right?

RE: Jonathan Adams
Yes, and most of the headstones at Copps Hill have not fared as well. His was probably a better quality as those are the ones that have stood the test of time and weather!

You're very welcome! I wish I could say it was my camera that was blurry but I had to squint to realize it was Mr. Adams. The letters on the stone are blurred, but lucky enough to see anything given the dates!

RE: Joseph and Rebeckah Snelling
You should because there are quite a few Snellings and they're all together! I took a bunch of photos but see that most had already been photographed. There was a young Joseph and Josiah, and another Rebecca, daughter of Josiah and Mary (though I'm not sure Mary was there). Also, when leaving the cemetery I saw that there's a street (more like an alley) with a sign that said Snelling Way. Could that be them - did they reside in the North End near Copps Hill?

Nehemiah Overton
Hello. I want to let you know, last Sunday, I sort of figured out where the cemetery might be. It is deep overgrown woods and not in the greatest neighborhood so, with the unfortunate tick season upon us,in the fall I am going to see if I can find someone who would like to venture out with me in locating his headstone.

I found so many Overton's in a Coram cemetary and would be quite sure they are somehow related to Nehemiah. Have you panned out your Overton family tree on Ancestry?
