Bio and Links
My name is Phil Johnson. I have recently joined Findagrave.com site. Because of this website, I have began to research my family history. There is a lot of information out there and I'm trying to track down all that I can. I hope to be able to find pictures and add some.

My paternal great grand parents are mostly from the Graham Community of Appling County, Georgia, USA and buried in nearby cemeteries like Zoar:

Milton Homer Johnson
Addie (Varnadore) Johnson
Morgan Lee Simmons
Alice (Rentz) Simmons

I am unable to find any information about Morgan Lee Simmons parents or siblings. If anyone could help, that would be great!

My maternal great grand parents are mostly from K'Vill of Wayne County, Georgia, USA.

Everett Columbus Herrington
Ida Mae (Smith) Herrington
Lonnie Griffis
Mattie Lou (Thornton) Griffis

I am unable to find any information about Everett Columbus Herrington's parents. If anyone could help, that would be great!

Addie Johnson
Hello, Phil. My name is Sandi Crosby and I live in Glennville, Georgia. Addie Johnson was my paternal great, great grandmother. Dollie Johnson Walton was my great grandmother. Her home was located directly across from the cemetery that she is now buried in on US Highway 1. Our family originally owned that cemetery.

I've really enjoyed looking at all the research you've done on our family members. Thank you for sharing!

RE: Johnson family of Appling Co
Hello Phil -
You and I connect at Malcolm Johnson. My branch takes off from his son Rev Arthur E Johnson m. whose daughter Emma Jane Johnson m. Alexander L Cain. To my dismay and good fortune, I do not have your grandfather Obadiah listed. You have given me the gift of adding a branch to my tree. Who did Obadiah marry so that I can add your family?

I visited the Johnson-Corinth Cemetery in 2011 - unfortunately I did not know then what I know now. It was a long time wish to visit the grave of my mother's father, Frank Cain, the son of Emma Jane Johnson m. Alexander L Cain. My mother's father died six months before she was born so she never knew him - but I have been on a mission to visit his grave for many years. Since I was traveling with other people at the time there was a lot that I missed.

There are some things at the cemetery that I would like to know if you visit it again. When we were there there was a man that stopped by and seemed so know some things about the cemetery. To the rear of the main cemetery is the cemetery where the negroes were buried. Surprisingly there were flowers on several of those graves. And, I believe to the left facing the cemetery there are some structural remains of the original church on the Johnson farm. My guess is that my grandfather Rev Arthur E Johnson started the church there. My guess is that it may have burned down and a new one was built on the other side of the road.

If you get the chance to visit the cemetery again there are a couple of graves that I would like you to look for for me. But when you get ready to go for a visit I will give you some names. My e-mail is: djswisher201@verizon.net

It may have been a long time since I wrote the original e-mail but the timing is perfect. I'm certain that you also have a hundred things going on in your life just like I do. Let me know if by chance you will have the opportunity to visit the cemetery again. Thank you, cousin.

Hello! I believe that my grandmother told me that she is buried at Big Creek in and unmarked grave. I also believe that I have seen her death certificate with Big Creek listed as the place of burial.
