RE: Manuel Borba
Hi Eddie,

I put up the photo, but noticed that you used "Maria" instead of "Mary A.". You should probably use the name on the grave marker for the name on the memorial. Also, her death month is November and not September.

I know St. Joseph cemetery pretty well to find my way around it, but I will have to go back and review the records to see what Borbas and Machados are buried there. Interestly, I did see a Jose Borba Machado listed in Oakland's dead letter list for October 24, 1904. I didn't see any other reference to him.

This may take awhile due to the weather. I won't guarantee any thing as in the early days people were taken by train to St. Catherines in Martinez or St. Marys in Oakland, even though they lived in the Richmond/San Pablo area.

RE: Manuel Borba
You are very welcome.

In the row in front of Manuel is a Mary A. Borba, died 11-15-1914.

In the same section and next to each other are Antonio M. Borba, 10-24-1876 02-03-1937 and
Maria Borba, 10-11-1880 12-22-1932.

Further down the row is Manuel V. Borba 1875 - 1935.

If you bring up St Joseph cemetery and run the last name Borba, you will see some of the newer Borbas.

photo request for Wests
I looked for Harry and Jonnie West. They are buried in same plot but no marker could be found. I even had groundskeeper with me. I thought it was interesting that Joseph Machado did have a marker right next to the Wests. I see there is a photo of him already. Richard West was not found either but did not have a groundskeeper with me. So I will keep looking for him.

I have been to the cemetery numorous times and still have not found any west. I plan on going again soon. waiting for a good time when the water sprinklers are not on. Also many of the stones are worn and unreadable.

RE: Joseph Azevedo Machado
Which one - Sr or Jr? Are you related to them? If so I have a lot of info on Sr. born 1871 - died 1944 - as he was my great grandfather.
