RE: Wentworth redwood city connections
Lee, Thanks for your note. Unfortunately I have no info on anyone in my tree named Ira. This is likely a distant cousin, for 95% of Wentworths in the US originated from one emigrant in the 1630s who settled in NH(William the Elder). George E, was my Gr Gr grandfather who came to CA during the boom days of California. He was a successful Farmer/Rancher, but also being in cattle, naturally a tannery went well with those businesses. Leather was huge in those days, and up until the auto age. I dont have much data on the Tannery, he died young(1888) and I dont believe it went very far. His son Frank P, didnt take over from what I read and hear from my Dad and gpa, and chose another profession. Im sorry I dont have more. I need to make a trip up north to do more research.
