Nancy Paris
Received from you on June 20 ------
I am wondering if in fact Calvin Paris was Nancy Bell Paris's brother instead of her husband. There is a Nancy Paris b. about 1861 d. 1832, who is the daughter of Nancy B. Peck (1827or 1828-1904) and James Carroll Paris (1820-1863). Nancy had a brother named Calvin who died in 1938. If, in fact, these are her parents, it is doubtful her married name would continue to be Paris. If anyone could corroborate my suspicions, I'd appreciate some feedback. I am also wondering if she possible married a man named Lewellen.

Thanks for your thoughts,
N. Dixon

Nancy was the daughter of James Paris & Nancy Peck, but I think your identification of Calvin as her brother is incorrect. What I have entered is what is found on the death certificate. On all the census records, she is shown as the wife of Calvin, and he is the one who provided the information for her death certificate. A wife with the same maiden & married name is a bit unusual, but not all that unheard of. There are several memorials on Find A Grave (including for James Carroll Paris & Nancy B Peck), that might give you some insight into this family.

Somewhere in those memorials (I can't find it right now) is a reference to a Lewellen.

Hope this helps,
Darlene

RE: Nathan Henderson Cansler
Don't think the one I listed is son of John Cansler and Nancy Boone. Might be son of Nathaniel Henderson Cansler (who was son of John Cansler & Anne Henderson). I took off the parentage, til new evidence shows up.
