Dear Troy,
Thanks so much for the picture of Robert Cunningham's gravestone. A particular thanks for the close-up on the dates. Your photos have enabled me to establish that he is indeed one of my relatives and I am happy to know that others in that same cemetery are, likewise, relatives. Thanks again for the good work that you, and volunteers like you, do.

RE: Bennett photos in Crawfordsville Iowa
This is a link that confuses me:

Somewhere I got the idea that Esther Bennett's mother's name was Mary, but if this Mary's dob is right, she can't be Esther's mother.

Not the link, but the relevant information from the link - in a section about Chauncey Myers in Vol II of History of Washington County (IA):

Joseph Myers was born in Pennsylvania and, in an active business life, engaged in stock raising, trading and farming. He arrived in Polk county, Iowa, in 1848 and the following year came to Washington county, living on Davis Creek. He was an important factor in the public development of that locality and served as the first postmaster of the Davis Creek post office. Making his home in Iowa Township, he there tilled the soil, brought his land under a high state of cultivation and became recognized as a thrifty and progressive farmer. He was three times married, his second wife being Mary Gregg (cousin of first wife of same name) by whom he had two sons (Joshua and Albert) who were soldiers in the Civil war. One of these (Albert) lost his life in defending the interests of his country. For his third wife Joseph married Esther Bennett, who belonged to the Crawfordsville, IA family of Bennetts (T.E. Bennett was her father). She died when past middle age and her husband departed this life in 1875 at the venerable age of eighty three years. To them was born a son, William B., and a daughter, Mary, who died in infancy. One son by the first marriage, John G. Myers, figured for a considerable period as the largest and most successful breeder of shorthorn cattle in Washington county and was also an extensive land owner, his holdings aggregating about one thousand acres. He was the first man to import shorthorns into this county and in this way did much to improve the grade of stock.

RE: Bennett photos in Crawfordsville Iowa
Hi Troy, I think the T. E. Bennett grave you found and photographed is actually the one I am interested in! I am trying to find the parents of an Esther Bennett who was the 3rd wife of my ancestor, Joseph Myers (even tho I'm descended from his first wife). I've come to the conclusion that Esther and Joseph are buried in Riverside Cemetery in Washington County, Iowa, even though the name on the markers is spelled Meyers.

I'm going to look for this one link that will interest you and (if I can find it again) send it to you in another message.

Thank you for this photo, too ! Could you tell if it possibly said Myers on the top of the stone?

Thanks for the photo, Troy ! It looks like there is a date of April 20, 1865 on it. Could you tell if that was a death date?

RE: Alfred & Minnie Bolon Photo
Towards the back in the middle you'll see a red family crypt with the name "Main" on it, I think there was a dip in the landscape & they're down in it. If you stay on the road that takes you into the cemetery past the office it will take you right to the MAIN family crypt (sec 5)
Good luck if you go back

RE: Sarah Davis
My father was a Davis. His family came from Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska, etc. His first great-grandfather was a prisoner in the Andersonville Prison during the Civil War.
