|William Price||RE: Hi|
Will keep an eye out for him. Would you send me a copy of his death certificate? Does the death certificate say he was interred at Mount Hope?
|William Price||RE: Wow!|
About a month or two ago, I tried to fulfill your request. I found out that the records for the old part of the cemetery were destroyed by fire in the mid 1930s. The staff and I did a quick look about but the cemetery is large, there are many unmarked graves, and of course there were no records to indicate where to start. I left a problem report but said I would continue to look.
I am handicapped so I can only do a little bit at a time. I started photographing headstones and adding them to findagrave.com. Luckily I photographed your grandparents headstones and added them to findagrave. I didn't know that I had found headstones that I had look for months ago until I received a message that said I had fulfilled your request.
There are other Alstons buried in the same area. I wonder if they are related to you. There is George Alton and his wife Julia Alton, their daughter Sarah Alton Jones, and a Matilda Alston Polk.
|William Price||RE: Ethel and Gideon Alston|
Yes, they are both probably there. There is a record of Ethel Alston but the record of Gideon was probably destroyed by a fire that happened in the 1930s that destroyed the cemetery records. I will continue to look for their grave sites. I am hoping that Gideon was buried next to Ethel.
