RE: Robert Alexander Crawford 1825-1904
Another thing that I thought was interesting that turned up in the yDNA testing that I did through FTDNA is that my paternal line matches up also with a lot of Crocketts. In fact, I have more Crockett matches at the 111 STR marker level of testing than I do for Crawfords. (2 Crawford matches and 3 Crockett matches). I am convinced after having spoken with the administrator of the Crockett Surname project that our line of Crawfords is distantly related to the haplogroup I line of Crocketts, the descendants of the famed Davy Crockett. That was one novel fact that turned up in the DNA testing along with the discovery of the history of the Crawford family up north that I thought was sort of interesting.

RE: Robert Alexander Crawford 1825-1904
That's really exciting. The identity of the parents of Robert Alexander Crawford is where I got stumped in my genealogical research. The book that I bought published by one of my close DNA matches helped trace our line in Virginia and up north, but I could not figure out where my line fits into his well documented line without knowing who Robert Alexander's parents are for sure, since there is some conflicting information in this regard. I look forward to any new details or corroborative information that can confirm the identity of Robert Alexander's parents.

John Nathan Crawford
Nathan's son, John A. Crawford was killed in the Civil War in June or July 1862. If Robert is this John's brother, he could have named his next boy after him and his father, Nathan ??? Jane

I got your message. I do not have any information on her other than what I posted on her memorial. As for Robert, I have no proof he is son of Nathan. I can't expain 6 yr. gap between children. I also can't prove Edmond Murphy to Nathan. He had a daughter named Minervia Frances. Nathan had a dau. named Frances Minervia. Since Edmond also lived in Macon Co., AL the same time as Nathan, I assume he is his son. I am sticking my neck out on those two being the sons of Nathan with no real proof. I agree that the info is very confusing.
