James Burwell Ross aka Jesse Ross
You contacted me several years ago about Harden Ross' picture. You were researching Harden's son James "Jesse" Burwell Ross who lived in West Va. His second wife was Minnie. Have you seen a marriage license for this union? Do you know her maiden name? She may be his niece and that may be why he moved to WV and changed his name to Jesse :) Food for thought.

RE: Harden D. Ross
The Bassett Historical Center in Bassett, VA would be a great resource for your Ross research. Pat Ross is the director. This center is dedicated to genealogy research.
Phone # 276- 629-9191. They have lots of info and are really helpful.

RE: Harden D. Ross
My main research is the John Wesley Hooker family in Patrick Co., Va.
Harden Ross' daughter Mary Alice married William Crawford Hooker. Harden's tin type came to me from one of William and Alice Hooker's descendants. It was in a book of labeled tin types. I scanned the original and returned the originals to their owner.
Hope this helps. Do you think it was mislabeled?
