John Frank Trnka
Hi Frank,
I have been making a family tree on Familysearch and I found out that John Trnka is married to my 1st cousin 4 times removed. I was wondering if it would be okay to add some of the Trnka family headstone pictures you took to my family tree?
Thank you
Misty Moryn

RE: Charles Koch in Oakland
Hi Frank:

I was finally able to talk with the director of the cemetery and we finally found Charles. After explaining that I have a photo of his grave, he pulled the original handwritten records and looked by date.

He is buried in the old Episcopal section, which is located in the southwest corner of the cemetery. He is also close to William Koch, who died in 1936.

The director stated that somehow he was never added to their records, so he is adding him now.

I added his burial location to the memorial; I am just glad I don't have to go walk this huge cemetery looking for a flat stone, especially when leaves are falling...LOL.

Regarding Trnkas, they lived on Churchill Street in Roseville and the kids went to Alexander Ramsey High School. I suspected that somehow you would be related.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Frank:

I had to read the messages on your page to refresh my memory (glad you kept them).

I apologize for not getting back to you on this, let me follow up on this again...I will do it tomorrow.

BTW, Trnka is not a terribly common name - any chance you are related to the Trnkas who lived in Roseville?

RE: Charles Koch in Oakland
I have zero doubt that the stone is in Oakland; I only wish I could tell you where. Next time it is warm enough and I have some, I will follow up on some hunches.

Memorials in Oakland are created from the photos I took. I don't go to Calvary much - I have not been there in at least five or six years. As for Elmhurst, although I have been there a few times since I know folks buried there, I have rarely taken photos.

I also did a little research and found the Military Headstone Request from 1888 for his grave in Oakland. So I am guessing that at one time he had an old style headstone which looks like it has been replaced with a newer one.

I may have time over the next few days to contact them. With snow on the way, it sounds like tomorrow would be the only day to actually look out there.

Why Oakland doesn't list him is odd since that is where he is buried. Could be a fluke or a misspelling or who knows?? I will contact the person at Oakland whom I trust, and let them know what I found.

Charles Koch in Oakland
Hi Frank:

I was hoping that by looking at the photo I might get an idea of where that stone is, but unfortunately the photo did not help. That is interesting that they are saying he is not buried there. I create memorials from photos. When I get more time, I will look into that further - including asking them as a second person to see if I get a different answer.

Let me know if you learn anything else.
