Bio and Links
Bio Photo I greatly enjoy photographing cemeteries in Georgia and South Mississippi, two states near and dear to my heart. I use these digital files to update or create memorials herein.

Please feel free to use any of my photos found on find a grave in your family histories as your own.

If you find your name listed as a survivor in an obituary I have posted and would like your name removed, just ask. It will be removed promptly. Obituaries add a lot of genealogical information that if not captured will be lost, with cremation on the rise related to the cost of living, this may be all that remains to memorialize our loved ones.
If a newspaper or funeral home has already published a name in an obituary, anonymity is already compromised, if that's what you want to call it (with the internet ruling our world, what is private anyway ?).

Happy Hunting, Bren

RE: Geneva Beckham Piklenton sanders
Hello, I deleted the erroneous photo. Photo was of my maternal grandmother's marker... no known relation to Beckham family. I have no idea how it was posted there. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. -- John

Meansville, pike county ga cemeteries.
I appreciate your message concerning the Meansville cemeteries & the duplications. It is very confusing because neither cemetery has a name on the property & neither actually matches any listed cemeteries for that area.
However, if you physically drive down the highway, look at the section of highway on Google Earth and/or look at the overall view of the cemeteries, meansville cemetery and meansville congressional church cemetery are two separate and distinct cemeteries on 2 separate & distinct pieces if property.

I photographed only one of the cemeteries, so there should not be any duplications. Any duplications in the Meansville congressional cemetery should be merged with the one in the Meansville cemetery.

These two small, isolated & unmarked cemeteries are close to one another. But, they each have good Find A Grave directional identifications that identifies & separates them. I could not find anything that identified them as being the same cemetery, if they are, please let me know & I will gladly make necessary corrections.

This was very confusing & I spent a lot of time researching before posting the cemetery.if I have missed something, again, please let me know. What we do can be so beneficial to others, but only if we maintain the integrity of the information.

Thank you for making another photo of grave marker. I deleted the one I made (yours was much better), Not sure how I overlooked the mistake.

RE: Elliott Family
Bren,

Don't feel stupid to question my edit--when it comes to a stranger's word against Granny's, Granny wins every time! Happy to provide the additional data you need to get it right.

I've never been to the Hendricks Baptist Church Cemetery (I plan to visit soon), so I didn't know the configuration of the graves. My guess is they were buried that way partly because of young ages of the deceased and the timing of their deaths. Zorah died first in 1928 at the tender age of 28. James died a few year later in 1934 aged only 32. Then, poor Betty died two years later when she was only 7. The family may not have planned for so many cemetery lots so quickly for such young family members.

Addie, on the other hand, who might normally occupy one of the spots next to James, re-married and outlived her first husband by 53 years! She and her second husband were both buried nearby in Thomaston in the 1980s.

Thanks for the offer of a transfer, but although we share a name, this family is pretty distantly related--James is my 2nd cousin twice removed. I've been researching this branch of the Elliott family for an acquaintance, who we recently discovered is my 4th cousin once removed. There are a lot of folks more closely related to these Elliotts than I.

Regards,
Elliott

Betty Joyce Elliott
Hello Bren,

Thank you for accepting my suggested edits of familial relationships in the Elliott family of Upson County Georgia. One edit that you did not accept was the mother of Betty Joyce Elliott (memorial #143221747), which I suggested was Addie Leona Salter Elliott Holloway and you retained as Zorah Elliott.

The 1930 Census record for James Bailor Elliott indicates he was married to Addie and had been for 6 years, and that his daughter was Betty who was only 1 yr 8 months.

1930 United States Federal Census for James B Elliott
Georgia Upson Flint District 0003
James B Elliott, head, age 27, age at first marriage 21
Addie L Elliott, wife, age 26, age at first marriage 20
Bettie Elliott, daughter, age 1 [8/12]

Zorah Elliott was James' sister, which is also indicated in the 1910 and 1920 Census records for their father Tyron Lynn Elliott. I can send you those records, too, if you would like to see them.

Thank you for considering this information, which you may not have seen before.

Regards,
Elliott Jones
