Became fascinated with cemeteries and genealogy when my uncle forwarded the history of the Easter side of my tree. I have since expanded my research to all sides of my tree and then some. I appreciate those that have taken pictures of my family headstones and hope to be able to help others during my travels.

I am now a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. I love doing genealogy and exploring my ancestral lines. I have an uncle on my Mom's side that provides tons of information.

My ancestors may be gone, but they are not forgotten.

John Walker Riddle #41997749
Hello!

Just thought you might like to know 'the rest of the story' about J. W. Riddle!

John Walker Riddle was married three times, and Susan Patience Whiting was the third of his wives. They had no children, but she had five from a previous marriage to William Luce.

J.W.R.'s first wife was Rebecca Jane Jennings. They had two children--Alexander Pancoust and Cassius Kirk. Rebecca died on 12 Oct 1849.

J.W.R.'s second wife was Rachel Harriet Close. They had six children--Charles Meigs, Laura Jane, Catherine Isabella, George S. Kemble, Margaretta and Anna. John and Rachel were divorced.

So the mother of Catherine Kocher and Margaretta Hassenfritz is Rachel Harriet Close, who is also buried at Millcreek Cemetery under the name of Rachel Close Stewart, #125827891. Her daughters Catherine and Margaretta are linked to her.

Quite an entanglement, isn't it!!!

RE: Valentine Kelley - Memorial #81058436
I've researched this family a little just because they are a "Sabine County Texas family" and no relation to me. Valentine T. Kelley's father is Elijah "Lige" Kelley (b 1828 in GA) and his mother is Nancy Shepherd. V.T.'s father is listed as Lige Kelley on his Texas Death Certificate but no mother is listed there. I've found 6 siblings for V. T.: William Marion, James Edward, Wiley, Martha M., & Nancy A. Elijah, Nancy and the first 5 kids are listed in Newton Co., TX 1880 census. The family is listed in Newton Co., TX 1870 census and they are in Jasper Co., TX in 1860. Hope this helps.

RE: Elizabeth (Newcommer) Mosier
Michelle,
Thanks so much for sending the link to the book. It is a remarkable document. While I did not find what I was looking for it confirms that Elizabeth Newcomer Mosier is probably not Levi's Mother.

Thanks!

Kevin

Elizabeth (Newcommer) Mosier
I see you are related to Elizabeth Mosier. I was wondering if you knew any more information on her. I am trying to link her to a possible son Levi Mosier b. 1832. Who is my 3x Great Grandpa

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi JM,

You mentioned that you had this document for Marshall Irvin Taylor b. 1894 and d. 1975. I would love a copy. Do you have it scanned as you can email it to me at

Thanks so much,

Re: Catharine Longwell Close
Thanks for the quick response! I am descended through Adam & Catharine's daughter, July/Julia Ann Close who married John W McClintick. I would be interested in seeing what is in the Riddle book.

Also, I'd love to see even the abstract of Thomas Longwell's will. Does he mention a sister, Catharine Close? I recently received an actual copy of their brother, John Longwell's, will. It confused me as he lists giving money to his 6 sisters, whom he listed, including Catharine Close. However, at least 5 of the 6 were deceased at this point! It really confused me. The only one he mentioned as deceased (in a round about way) was Mary. I think he listed all of his siblings because he never married. But, giving money to his dead sisters has me baffled. I thought this will would 'prove' that he was Catharine's sister, but it only confused me!

Catharine Longwell Close
Hi! You are maintaining a page for "Catharine, wife of Adam Close." She is my 4th great grandmother. I, too, believe she is a daughter of Matthew Longwell, but I'm still trying to prove (or disprove) that fact. Do you have anything that might help me? I just hired a genealogist in PA to help me out, too, so I'm hoping to document this so I can continue researching this family.

Thanks,
Dana
