you might be able to get more info from the cemetery office such as place of death, then access the death certificate which should be available if it was NY or NJ. that might give you his parents names. just a thought.

here lies
our dear learned father
Yitzhak bar Yakov
died 1st day of Nisan, 5685
may the soul be bound to eternal life
(we also submitted it to the memorial via the edit tab)
there's an acronym used on this inscription which in the Hebrew Mem Vav Heh which means Teacher and Rabbi but many times it is used for people who are very learned but not necessarily a Rabbi. so we have added that to the description but it also may be possible that he was a Rabbi.

RE: Greenhouse
Ok. I will take Freda and not Jacob (there is an open request for his stone from you, which I claimed). Regarding Dora's father - Shlomo Gavriel - I think this could just be a double/first and middle name in Hebrew. Both the names are Hebrew (= Solomon Gabriel, in English). Usually, what I have seen with a Hebrew-Yiddish name pair, one name is a type of translation to the other.

RE: Dora Greenhouse
Glad to help. I will hopefully take Freda and Jacob Greenhouse's photos later in the week. There might be other Greenhouses in the area which you might want - check the New Haven Jewish Cemetery database and let me know/make photo requests. Regarding the translation of Dora's name: I really wasn't familiar with that name - so I just transliterated it as Dvasye - which is likely the Yiddish pronunciation. Feel free to use the photo and information in your tree.

Thank you so much for the quick response to my picture request. I did not think that Callie would have two sites, especially in the same Cemetery. We now know that she is buried with her first husband and that Callie Petty and Cally Morris is the same person..
