For several years I have been researching the ex-husband's family and got interested in visiting graves while doing that. Then I started researching the sheriffs' of Jefferson County, NY from 1804 - present. I discovered Find a Grave while doing these searches and I have enjoyed going on the hunt to find graves for everyone. My favorite cemetery in this area is Brookside Cemetery in Watertown, NY. It is a very large and old cemetery with many large ornate stones. I love going up there and could spend the whole day if I had the extra time. Once I've retired, I hope to do many more cemeteries.

Hello Pat,
No I don't have GenealogyBank. Just going with free info for now. Could I ask a really special favor? Would you send her obit to me? Bill's also if you have it? I would very much appreciate it. My email is I had googled both, but came up with nothing.

Re photo for Corinne Shamey
Thank you very much for taking and posting the photo for Corinne. When I found her memorial, sadly there wasn't even a date of birth. We have spiffed it up considerable and I hope to do more.
She was my best friend in high school and beyond. I was a maid of honor when she and Bill were married. I added a family photo I just found and hope to add more. I so appreciate volunteers like you. I can't find anything on her husband as yet. William Shamey. He was a NY State Trooper when they met. After their marriage he was head of conservation on Fort Drum. In fact, we went blueberrying on Fort Drum once with a mock war going on in the background. Corny was the first of our New Berlin Central School class of 30 to die. Sadly, of that lousy cancer bit. We just had our 60th reunion and she was remembered along with the 5 others we have lost. Two just this year. A very healthy rural bunch. Well, not so much anymore. Three more of us were using canes since last year. Take care and thanks again. Donna

Woodruff - Brookside
Pat, Thank you so much for the photos of the stones my GG Aunt Anna and her husband, George Woodruff. Anna was a first generation Norwegian American born in Story City, Iowa. I see that her stone is not in readable condition. I live in western MA and will make it a point to visit the cemetery in the future and try to clean off the moss. DAST

RE: Frances and LaMotte Pierce
I can't thank you enough! It took me ages (probably years, lol) to find what had become of them, and given how far it is for me to get to Watertown it wouldn't have been likely for me to see the stones anytime soon. The photos are such a big help... :-)
