Opps,my mistake. It was March 1863 and not 1864. I don't know what I was thinking. Something else I found there is Memorial #46590228 James Love of the 19th Indiana. He's buried in the Maryland section for some reason and not the Indiana section.

I agree it is somewhat a mystery. The pamphlet entitled "Directory and Soldiers' Register of Wayne County Indiana" from 1865 says that his remains were returned to Indiana in March of 1864. The Antietam National Cemetery was dedicated in Sept. of 1867. Until new information is discovered an argument could be made on both sides.
If his remains were taken to Indiana then why didn't they correct their records? It is also not uncommon for families to put memorial headstones in their local cemeteries.
