My name is pronounced Jackie. I have been doing genealogy research almost 2 years, and it has been a very productive search. Although there are always dozens of branches on the tree, my main interests at this point are the branches from Henderson and Hardin Counties, TN. Mostly the Smiths, Hannas, and McNatts. Also, in Campbell County, TN. the Lays and in Oklahoma the Stones and Elliotts. I appreciate any contacts regarding information or questions even outside of these names.|
My goal is to link together every Hanna and Smith for which I can find a burial place so others searching in the future may have easier access to ancestors from one generation to the next.
If you send an email and I do not respond, leave a public message. I cannot always access my email, but FAG seems to have no problems.
ATTENTION: HANNA REUNION!!

|Holly Adams Sexton||Family of Etheldread Smith|
Hi Jacque - Etheldread (E.D.) Smith is my great, great, great grandfather on my dad's side of the family. My name is Holly Adams Sexton. I am the daughter of Thomas Edward Adams and granddaughter of Eula Edith Inman Wylie. I have been looking up my family history and find it pretty fascinating! Let me know if you have any questions about our side of the family.

I tried to transfer him to you but Findagrave doesn't recognize the number #480565828.

I have spent several weekends in Sardis , Saltillo and Savannah, and I know what a lovely time I had when I was there.
I don't know if anyone will remember all of us who came from Chattanooga but I hope you will tell everyone hello for me.

I found my great grandfather James Anthony Hanna and was so happy you had placed him there. I do have information to add. He did indeed marry Alice Emily Davy, and they had 4 children: Connie Louise (my grandmother) who married Frank C.Hiner; Jewell who married James Mogford; Nellie Mildred who married Bert R. Shepherd; and Mahala (Mae) who married Neal Thompson.
All of these ladies were alive and well when I was a child until I was a young adult. They were lovely, kind, and thoughtful and I loved them dearly.
My great grandmother Alice Emily Davy died shortly after I was born, but I have heard many stories of the love she expressed to all around her.
I do not know Lena Meeks and never heard about her at all. Please change the information posted under James Hanna's Find-A- Grave site.
Thank you so much. Connie Carpenter
|Kevin Smith||Etheldread Smith|
I found your information on ED Smith very interesting. Finding information on Smith isn't so easy. He must have been my paternal gg grandfather since my great grandfather was was James Britton (not Brit as this site shows) Smith. I am located in Oklahoma.
I am interested in more information if you have it but don't want to put anything more on a public site.

One more note on John and Rebecca that I have in my records from my mother. Her note says that John and Rebecca were buried at Indian Creek near Natural Bridge - nothing about a specific cemetery.

|--janie||John Hanna Sr FAG entry|
Thanks so much for your Find A Grave entry for John Hanna - it contained some details that I didn't have on his life and family. He is my 4th great-grandfather on my mother's side. And Etheldread Smith is my 2nd great grandfather. His daughter, Nancy Ellen Smith who married James Stanfill, is my great grandmother. I had earlier found some early tax records for a John Hanna in Anderson County, Tennessee from the early 1800. Cumberland County was formed from Anderson in the early 1800's. The tax records are from 1805 (Tennessee, Compiled Census and Census Substitutes Index, 1810-1891 and Tennessee, Early Tax List Records, 1783-1895). So I suspect the family moved to Tennessee even earlier than 1813.
I grew up in Memphis, but left Tennessee in 1971 and now live in Pennsylvania (www.cse.psu.edu/~mji) (and Arizona in the winter time). But Tennessee is still in my heart.

|Alex Hanna||Calvin Madison Hanna|
Hello there. Looking over the find-a-grave for Calvin Madison Hanna, I saw that Ellender Nellie Courtney (his mother) is supposedly the grandchild of Colonel Joseph Hardin. I've seen this idea around ancestry trees and the like, with Jonathan Courtney (her father) marrying a Mary Elizabeth Hardin. However, there are many trees that reference a marriage to a Mary Goans or Mary Goodner Dyer born at about the exact time as Mary Elizabeth Hardin in 1774, Tazewell County, Virginia.
What I'm wondering is if you happen to know the source for this claim on the find-a-grave page?

I just saw your email Jacque and was going to call you to say I think everything is good now. I guess FindAGrave has a way to handle situations like yours where the memorial owner can't get to a computer, or worse. Hope all is well with you. Take care. Bob
