|Bill Miltonberger||RE: Question on the McHone family...|
To start out, my wife is Loretta Ledford,Joshua Mchone is her 3rd great grandfather.
We have also heard that Delana was a Native American. Per Harriet Ledford, Loretta's mother, Delana was indian, but because of the Trail Of Tears event, she stayed in the mountains. It is said that she had heard the train whistle, but had never seen a train. She never ventured far from her home, more than a few miles away.
We have tried to verify her roots, but because she stayed in the hills, we have found nothing to confirm her other than family passing on her history.
Her death certificate shows her father being Joshua Mchone. The source I have listed for Joshua being Micajah McHone's son is Larry McHone, (firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also I have a page from Carmen Jones dated 7/20/04 saying under the Mortality Schedule in the 1860 census that Joshua is listed as died, cause given as "burned".
If you do find more info on Joshua, his parents or verification of Delana's roots please let me know,
