I grew up in Illinois and once thought I had no family in IL. It was a lonely thought and I wish I knew then what I know now. My family on my dad's side live in PA and through research have found many of my ancestors cousins moved to IL in the 1800's. My mom's side live in WI and SD and I knew my great grandmother was born in IL, but the family lived in WI. I learned that they were originally from WI moved to IL and only my 2x's great grandfather moved back to WI. It has taken me many years to figure out all these mysteries and I am grateful for all the help people have given me along the way. I have been working on my family tree since high school and now I have been tackling my husband's family mainly in Illinois, England, and Italy. I have been in correspondence with Germany, Italy, and England and have had wonderful experiences sharing information. I spend a lot of time at Mt. Carmel and Queen of Heaven cemeteries researching my husband's family and learning a lot.|
Please let me know if you find a mistake or have an addition and I will change or add to the memorial. The purpose is to be as accurate as possible.
Please use any pictures of people, headstones, or obits that I have taken or was given generously by others. We are here to share our history.....I received copies of Meseke Family Photos from Daivd Jung; Wickard and Herman Family Photos from Karl Wickard and Cora Paulus Wickard; Hass, Mayer, Guth, Glatz Family Photos from Sharon Van Duyn Halseth, Hattie Hass Steger and her mother Helen Mayer Hass; Steger Family Photos from Hattie Hass Steger, Martha Steger Hespe, Barbara Steger Wedward, and Diane Fuerstenberg; Paulus, Vanasdall,Shank, Gutshall, Weary Family Photos from Terry Brindle, Mary Paulus Deitch, Lanette Morrow Yohn, Pearl Paulus Heiges, and Mae Paulus Morrow; Pinio family photos from Carol Pinio Giacobbe and Darleen Pinio; Piemonte family photos from Fred Piemonte and Rosemary Peters, Onesto family photos from Gene Onesto. I may have missed a surname or did not thank someone by name, but thank you to all who allow me to share these precious photos and information with others who are looking for these surnames.
****Any memorial pages from Galena, IL AND Republic, MI are not my relatives, so please ask if you want a transfer. We go there on vacation and they were not well documented.****
****Concerning Obituaries...I have a bunch of family obituaries and other newspaper clippings. I am scanning them and putting them on Ancestry and FAG. If you have a page and do not want it on there, if you would like to type it out and delete it, that is up to you. I have limited time, due to school starting and do not have time to type them all out. At least the information is there to be used. Thank you.****

You're welcome, glad to help.

Thanks for getting back to me! Palermo is pretty far from where my family originated. But I just thought I'd ask.
Recently, I have had some luck tracing my Chicago Italian side...familysearch.org has put lots of Chicago Catholic church records online....maybe you've already found them. They can be much more detailed than the civil birth, marriage, and death records.

I just saw your message to Susanne, about your Cozzi family in Cavalry Cemetery, Evanston, IL.
I also have Italian relatives buried in Section H of that cemetery. Which means they have no headstones either.
I wonder if Section H was just for very poor people, like our Italian immigrant ancestors. Maybe they had no headstone, or only temporary, flimsy ones.
Anyway, it was just interesting to see that you're looking for Italians in the same section of the Evanston cemetery. Good luck with your research! (By the way, my Chicago relatives came from the town of Oliveto Citra, near Salerno, Italy, just in case yours came from that area too)...

Hi Jessica, you are welcome for the memorials for the Pfeffer family. If you are related and would like me to make a transfer, please let me know and I'd be happy to. I am not related. Regards, Nadeen

There must be a story there somewhere about Clara vs. Flora, lol. Seems odd her name would be engraved on stone wrong before her death.

Thank you so much. I was a little emotional when I was asking for help!
