Yes, we are cousins. I, too, have tried, in vain I might add, to find info on Salmon. I purchased several booklets from the Sangamon Hist. Soc.; but, not much help, unfortunately. I did find a son, I believe, in Montana. Have just moved, so don't have my book handy to say for sure. The old memory doesn't work like it used to! :o)
I did have some of the information you gave on Elisha; but, did not know he owned a store and was Postmaster for a while. I did know he was a Methodist minister. Found an article on him by the Methodist Asso. Would like to find copies of the book(lets) he wrote; but, they probably are no longer available.
I found an article on Mary Pengelly also. I thought it was interesting that the patented "medicine" that her husband sold to women contained mostly alcohol. I thought I had a copy of an ad; but, haven't been able to find it. May go online and see if I can find it. I think that's where I found it previously.
I will dig out my House book later today and we can compare info, if you don't mind. Contact me through my email. I may have something you don't have and you probably have info I don't have.

John Schmidt is buried in the same lot (section 67, lot 40) as Johanna Schmidt. There are no other Schmidts in that lot. There are these other names in the same lot: Christian Weber, Charlotte Weber, Marie Louise Weber, William Louis Weber, Christina Caroline Weber, Theodore Dart.

I, also, am a descendant of Elisha's through Salmon Winchester and his daughter Catherine, who married Edden Morris.
