|Edward McCoy||RE: Photo permission|
I must be honest and say that I am not exactly sure who owns the rights to the photo I posted of Randall. I got my copy years ago in a gift shop in Pikeville, Kentucky and it had no markings of any kind to designate any copyrights to it. I felt it was important to put up so that people would get a chance to see what Randall looked like. There are so few photos of him and so many of Devil Anse. As a 3X great grandson of Randall, I was not very happy with how he was portrayed in the recent History Channel movie. He did have his faults, but he did not drink and as I say in my caption, I wonder how anyone else would act in similar circumstances. From my families account, he was a good citizen in his later years as he ran a ferry. He also enjoyed the compnay of family very much and was not a recluse. He stayed with his wife till she died, about two years after receiving the brutal beating at the hands of the Hatfields and yet the movie had to make her a rambling madwoman. Sad that those who had little peace in life are not able to have it in death. I wish I could say who to go to for acquring rights to the photo. Very sincerely,
Edward M. McCoy
