I just saw your query to another poster, and thought I'd throw in my half-cent worth (inflation, don't you know). Have you tried looking him up on Fold3.com? If you don't already have a subscription, they usually have a free trial period. If you look up his company and the date of that battle, not just his name, you may be able to determine where they placed him, and it may be in his records somewhere. I have many in my family that we have no idea where they may be laid to rest, it is frustrating, to say the least. Most of those guys didn't make it home for burial, depending on how much was going on at the time, and how far away home was. My 3rd ggrandfather was held at Elmira Prison in NY, and died there. His two sons were also held there until the end of the war. (They were all captured at Spotsylvania, moved to Point Lookout, then to Elmira.) He was buried on the prison grounds, then moved to a memorial cemetery later along with the rest of the prisoners. He died in Feb, and the two boys weren't released until late April, so there was no bringing him home. I had someone go there and look for his grave, I had the grave# from the burial records, but someone else's stone is on that grave#, and with 10,000 graves there, I can't ask anyone to search for it.

Hi Jo, with regards to the issue you are having with getting a headstone for your other GG grandfather, it sounds as though you have done a lot of work so far and are heading in the right direction. Have you checked with the county to see if anyone could help you identify his burial spot? Maybe a local library might have some record? Indeed, the records from back then are spotty at best. I wish I could do something to help you as what you are doing is a very worthy cause.

Hi Jo, transfer is complete.

I've ask that question so many times. Denise<><

Just found this (I have several Thomas Gregorys in my tree) - and am wondering what information you have on this, since you have no birth date, no death date, and no grave/headstone picture. What can you tell me about the entry?
not a darn thing. This is one of Becky's 20K+ that I took over management of over 2 years ago. I'm hoping as time goes on, family members will contact me to update some of these. I've put in for a photo so we'll see if that yields anything. Denise<><

Yes, the memorial is mine but I can't do anything with the photo you added. I could just delete the memorial and submit a new photo request that you could fulfill, if you already have the photo saved on your computer.

Hi - would you please move your marker photo from the memorial you created & transferred to me (which is a duplicate) to the original memorial? Then I'll delete the duplicate.
