Erwin de Mooij
Alton A. Schaffner
Dear miss Park,

my name is Erwin de Mooij and I am the content webmaster for the 457th Bomb Group Association website.

At this moment I am working on a virtual cemetery/memorial on the website honering all 339 KIA/MIA/KIS of the group.

I saw your picture of Alton A. Schaffner's grave marker and I was wondering if I could use it for the memorial. If you made any other photos of 457th BG members would I be able to use these too?

We would greatly appreciate it.

Best regards,

Erwin de Mooij

charles said you cannot see the cemetery from any road. we saw the tombstones when the dentist was building his home. also, you can tour the old farmhouse and see the barn. the dentist preserved the tombstones and can see them from his home. angelina kretzschmar

We have not been to the cemetery lately. It is on land owned by Rick and Patty Hammond. Address is 1031 Reichardt Lane, Cat Spring, TX 78933. I can't believe it is grown up since it is located in the front yard of their new and expensive house. You have to go thru a coded gate to get there. He is a dentist from Houston. The last time we were there, he had purchased some expensive fence to go around the cemetery. You might write him at his home address to get a time when he might be at home to see it.

RE: Karl Kretzschmar
dear rebecca....this is my husband's ancestors. a dentist and his family from houston, texas has bought the family farm. they built a new home on the land. from their home, one can see the kretzschmar old abandoned farm home and barn. also, in front of their new home is the family cemetery you are referring to. the new owner has cleaned and restored the cemetery that has a few graves. to get to the cemetery and old homestead you have to drive onto his property. they were friendly and gave us a tour of the old homestead and graves. you can contact my husband at and he can give you more info. angelina kretzschmar
