Bio and Links
Bio Photo My background is in history; I hold a PhD in American History from Rice University. I also have a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of South Carolina. From Macon, Georgia, I had the great pleasure to work for about a dozen years as historian-on-staff and genealogy librarian in the Genealogical and Historical Room at Washington Memorial Library in my hometown.
At age 50, I returned to school and pursued a law degree, fulfilling a long-held dream. I was graduated JD from Florida State University and now practice law in Marion, Virginia. Working primarily with wills, trusts, estates, and property, I find I daily put to good use the historical and genealogical research skills I've honed over the years. And of course, I continue to work on my family lines, as well as others--what genealogist has ever willingly quit his or her research?

Stokes Cemetery
Can you give me the location of the Stokes Cemetery in Bibb County, Georgia? I am familiar with the area but have no idea where the cemetery is located.

Thank you.

Flint Electric meeting
Hi Chris,
Ralph and I enjoyed your talk Monday.
I meant to ask if the Washington Library can help people with information from other states? All of my ancestors are from Alabama.
Ralph said that you remind him so much of your grandfather, James Stokes. It was good meeting you.

Washington Memorial Library
I noticed you used to work at the Genealogical and Historical Room at Washington Memorial Library in Macon. This past week I contacted them about an obit look-up. Just wanted to say that the staff there is very helpful & polite. Their response to my inquiry was super fast. Wish all libraries were like Washington Memorial Library. :) :) .... Cathy
