RE: Sarah (Green) Child-- West Thompson Cemetery
I've posted a new photo to #11569932. It is very clearly 1763 and I think it says 38th year. Genealogy of the Child, Childs and Childe Families: Of the Past and Present page 336

https://books.google.com/books?id=DI5KaTC0_nkC&pg=PA538&lpg=PA538&dq=Capt+josiah+child+sarah&source=bl&ots=sxMWZM2tal&sig=2XU8k04vofl8j1IS5uOdFIidawM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=MxDDVK3aHseegwS3uoT4Dg&ved=0CDEQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=Capt%20josiah%20child%20sarah&f=false

Says Josiah married twice First Feb 6 1745 to Sarah Green of Thompson and second in 1763 to Sarah Adams of Killingly. So there were indeed 2 Sarah's and it explains why Sarah (1) is buried in Thompson - with her family. Hope this helps

I will be happy to go re-photo and examine the stone, it may take a bit to get the light just right, sunshine and warmth are in short supply this time of year. I'm not sure if I will be able to positively tell, the stone is worn, but I've blown up my original and I think you might be right.

RE: Dickersons in Eldred Cemetery
Hi Cindy ~ I'm afraid I didn't get a photo of Phebe's headstone, may well have missed it.

Gertrude Barber lists that stone, so I would suggest you do a listing, add a memorial for her to this cemetery and then request a photo.

I'm some distance from here, don't know when I will get up that way again, but it would be a good reminder. I do check the photo requests before planning a trip. Another volunteer may well walk through before I would get there.

The Barber transcriptions, which you may well be aware of:

WEST, Phebe, wife of Henry L., d. 1 Dec 1849, ae 42 y, 3 m, 5 d

DICKERSON, Abigail, wife of Peter, d. 5 Nov 1849, ae 77 yrs

RE: Morris Creater Jr.
I photographed all the stones I could read in both Fairmount and Fairmount Presbyterian, along with Fairmount Methodist, which is about a mile away. If there is a stone, I didn't see it or couldn't read it. Sorry.

RE: Jacob Crater (Creter) 1740-1785
Info is from the book "The Descendents of Moritz Creeter (1703-1772)" by Harold L. Crater. He was deemed mentally incompetent and to be cared for by his brother and sister. Never married.

RE: Elizabeth Rust Peck
Hi Cindy - no problem - this is my best guess for what this marker says:

CAPT. SAMUEL PECK
DIED
Sept. 20, 1828
AE. 63 Yr's 6 Mo. & 17

ELIZABETH RUST
DIED
Jan. 18, 1838
Aged 73 Yr's

So this makes Samuel's birth date 3/3/1765 and Elizabeth being born in 1764. But don't take this as gospel - since the stone is so hard to read....

Tom and I are working with the same records from Oakwood. I have nothing more than what I wrote because that is what is written in the interment book. sorry

RE: Place of birth
The "kin" I also got from the Oakwood register... usually it's the parents names - but these were probably transferred in from another cemetery - since Oakwood didn't open until 1859.... and whoever told them the info - they wrote it in that way.....

RE: Place of birth
Yes - the Manchester, CT is what is written in Oakwood's register. If you have a better source, yours is probably more accurate, as these very early entries aren't that great...

RE: Place of birth
Cindy - I'm just entering records into Find-a-grave from Oakwood Cemetery's registers. I don't know anything further about the Pecks - unfortunately, the entries for them were pretty bad - I entered them just as they are - if you would like me to transfer any of these memorials to you - just let me know - or let me know if you want me to apply any updates.
