I have been researching my family tree since around 2006. Fairly new at adding cemetery records.|

My grandfather was Charlie Holloway. My grandmother was called Miss Rosie. My mother was 7 years old at the time of her father's death. Pleasant Holloway was dead 11 years before her birth. She left Wedowee as a teenager. She has dementia but still remembers some things from way back. She told my sister yesterday that a 16 year old black man helped her daddy clear some land. We were wondering if he was Arthur. Mother didn't know. My grandfather was a preacher. She has told us that when he went to preach revivals that a black lady would come help her mother. She said that her Daddy would tell her Mother to fix her the company bed. She thought her name was Carrie. This was before Mother was 7 so the name may not be right. She also told my sister yesterday that 2 of her brothers went missing one time. My grandmother went to Carrie's (or whatever her name was) and they were there eating supper. Do you have any idea who she was?

I saw your message on Pleasant Holloway's memorial. I agree that the list of his children is not complete. Many children died young in those days so he may have had some buried in unmarked graves and not living at the time of a census. It is said that he had several illegitimate children (probably some that even he didn't know about). It is said that he had at least 2 by Lucy Miles, 2 by Susan Mitchell, and 1 by a black woman. Anyone who is a member of findagrave can link a child to his/her parents. All they have to do is go to the memorial page of the child. Click the edit button. Click on relationship information. Enter memorial numbers for parents and/or spouse. Then click on save changes. Someone at findagrave will accept or reject and send an email when changes are accepted or rejected. If you know of any of his children not listed feel free to get them on the list. A child is still a child whether legitimate or not. Pleasant Holloway was my great grandfather. He was not a good husband to my great grandmother but appeared to be a descent provider for the time. It does not appear that he abandoned his offspring (or at least the ones he knew of). I know that my great grandmother helped raise at least 2 of them that he brought back from Texas or Oklahoma. I don't know about the Minnifield child. I know as an adult (according to the 1900 Census) he was living close to my grandfather.
