Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Roger Long, and I am a 1989 graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. now permanently residing in Europe. I am trying to visit the graves of all the Citadel Men buried in the American cemeteries of Europe and North Africa and pay my respects. To further honor their and their families' sacrifice, I have created a memorial website - THE CITADEL MEMORIAL EUROPE. There are "in memoriam" pages for each of the 49 men of WWII and 3 men of WWI. If you have information on any of these men, please contact me so I can ensure his record is as complete as possible. Thank you.

1 Lt Joseph A. Doyle, Jr.
Your bio indicates he received a Distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Air Medals and a Purple Heart.
I have a copy of the burial information held by the superintendent of the Sicily-Rome Cemetery. It lists only the purple heart. If you have information supporting the other awards I'd recommend you contact the American Battlefield Memorial Commission (abmc.gov). They are always glad to have information that corrects their records.
I only mean to be helpful in order to make the records as correct as possible.
Best regards,John Richter

RE: Jule Hancock
Well someone from your organization added the cross today. It is a better picture than the one I have.

I have a photo of his headstone from the Sicily-Rome cemetery. Am unable to post it to the memorial because all the free spots are used.If you were to clear one then let me know so I can post the cross photo.

Francis Vernon Lael
Hi Roger,

I created a memorial for Francis Lael (#82962777) after photographing his memorial marker in Marion, NC. I have just requested Find A Grave mark his memorial as a cenotaph.

I also inserted a link to your memorial in his biography.

You've done some great work for Find A Grave. Thank you.
