Bio Photo What started out as a hobby quickly turned into obsession. It's not enough to know who they were. I want to know what they looked like, what they did for a living, where they migrated from, what their military history was, were they kind to others. I want to know everything!

RE: Francis Brooks
Hello Pam, I so apologize in that I'm just now receiving this message. I will have to check my tree on the Brooks line. Off hand I can't remember because it has been a while since I've looked at that part of my tree. But I will. You can contact me at
Is Bennett your maiden name?

RE: Hutchinson Cemetery

I don't remember for sure if there were any markers that I couldn't read, or if there was any indication of unmarked graves. Once you know where it's at, it's easy to find, but I had a hard time finding it that day. It's small, enclosed in an old fence, overgrown, and neglected.

Are you looking for a particular person?

RE: Brooks family history
Sorry, never heard of her or the family. My Sidney Brooks married into the Adams family of Pitt Co., NC. I have nothing further on my Sidney Brooks.

Francis Brooks, Memorial #100118062
I just thought of something - there's a token on this memorial: "R.I.P. my 5th Great Grandfather
- Rosemary McIntosh Added: Apr. 16, 2015".
Have you contacted Ms McIntosh for info? She may be able to help you. Just a thought.

RE: Brooks family history
Hi Pam,
The information I have is that Francis' father was William Brooks, b 1751-55, d 1840. The wife of a former trustee (I think) sent me a treasure trove of information that her husband had put together when she saw the memorials and photos on findagrave. From her information I was able to make family connections. I'll be glad to share this with you if you'll send me your email address. You may email me at

RE: Mary Jane Chitty
JOhn, James and Allen Chitty along with their sister's came to Conecuh around 1829. Think they were near the border of Covington. They are children of John Cecil Chitty and his wife Sarah. The came from Pitt Co NC to SC then on to AL. Many of the line went on to TX

RE: Mary Jane Chitty
Didn't think I had contacted you. Sorry. Mary Jane Brown Chitty is buried in Conecuh. Per my Aunts who went there in the 70's they saw a wooden gravestone for Mary Jane Chitty Pyburn there. I have no idea if they moved her or added a stone in Jay where the family was living.
