Can I get a memorial number please
|Mary Louise Reynolds||RE: Phebe Swain|
Thank you for your message. Phebe and David Swain are indeed buried at Little River. The Phebe Swain buried at Little Blue River was David's third wife, while the one whose memorial I posted at Poplar Ridge was his first, so they are not the same person. The first wife was Phebe Macy (d. 1842), who he married in 1815. His second wife was Ruth Coffin (d. 1852) who he married in 1843. Following the death of his second wife, he married her widowed sister Phebe (Coffin) Weesner, who is the lady buried at Little Blue River. My placing of Phebe (Macy) Swain's burial at Poplar Ridge is based on the Friends meeting records at Salem-Silver Creek Monthly Meeting in Union Co., IN, which indicate her burial place. Since the burial record would have been made close to the time of her death, I am inclined to give the information a fair amount of weight. If you have information to the contrary, I would be happy to reconsider.
