Thank you for respecting the work of others!
I am the Fifth Great Granddaughter of Christian Otto Schultz, of Rhinebeck, NY, through his son LT Peter Schultz. Peter was one of eight brothers who were revolutionary war patriots. I'm working on the burial sites and vital statistics of all of Christian Otto and Christiana's descendents.
My paternal Grandmother was a King, and what a lot of Kings there were and are! They were boilermakers and laborers and other hard-working folks from Bath, Maine. The families were large, most had little money, and the stories are sometimes hard to take. Infants died more often than in the wealthier side of the family, women married and died young, children like little Hattie King and her two sisters didn't always get to stay with their Mom and Dad. The Kings who survived were sometimes badly damaged by their experiences. The Kings were among the original settlers of Quebec, Canada, although the name was Royale before being Americanized. Theirs is a story of many generations who overcome hardship and tragedy. It's not a pretty story, not always an honorable one, but it's honest and has plenty of moments of triumph, joy and even hope.
On my Mother's side, we have Burns and Gerfin, two names that lead back to Canada, PA, Maine and MA. Behind the Burns, we find the early settlers of Union, Maine, including Phillip Robbins who's home now houses the Union Historical Society, the Cummings, with a few courageous fellows who headed off to Lexington, and before them, William and Johanna Towne, my 9G Grandparents, who's three daughters were accused during the hysteria of the Salem witch trials. Rebecca Towne Nurse and Mary Towne Esty, were hung. Sarah was accused after she protested her sister's innocence and spent nearly a year in jail. Her case was finally dismissed by Grand Jury.

|regina f||Schultz family history|
I am in tears reading all of this history. I have been searching for the identity of my father. All I had to go on was a handful of DNA matches, and that he was in the area of Troy, NY in 1969 for my conception. A few weeks ago I got a match to a member of your family that belongs to a possible 1st or second cousin.
To discover that your family is open to meeting members that you might not have previously known is heartwarming. Perhaps I might someday meet one of you.
I hope to identify this match and have private discussions with one or more of you.

Nehemiah, Jr's daughter, Sarah Ramsdell, married Isaiah D Rider. Another Isaiah Rider (there were many) with similar dates married Sarah Hathaway and many families have scrambled those four different people every way possible. We were going to follow the Rider family back to a Benjamin Rider but finally discovered that there was no connection. So struck gold following the Ramsdell side.

Thanks for the transfer of the Nehemiahs. They were both Revolutionary War Patriots. They are ancestors of a friend that were are helping complete her application to the Daughters of the American Revolution. If we can find proof of connections of all the generations. Senior's father, Joseph, was also a patriot, serving on the safety committee.

Thank you for transferring. Our friend, Wilma, is applying for DAR membership. She is a 4x great granddaughter of Nehemiah Jr, descended from his daughter Sarah. So Jr and Sr are both her Patriot ancestors. We will take good care of their memorials.

I have sent edits to you for the Find A Grave memorials of these two men. I can provide proof documents for the changes if you provide an email address.

Hello Christine and everyone,
Thanks to my Grandfather, Benjamin F. Schultz III, I have Family information comprised over 2 full volumes of documented History.
I am from the Lieut. Peter Schultz line. He and his wife Anna Van der Hoff had 12 Children: Lucus (my branch), Christian, Margaret, Mary (Mariah), Abraham, Christina, Peter Jr, Joanna, Catherine, Issac, Jacob, and Eliza.
It is my goal to document this great work done by my Grandfather online. Just not sure the best forum, perhaps a blog. I will add to this thread - and would be happy to answer any questions for history documented in Schultz Family Tree.
James M. Schultz, Sr.

Hi Christine, I believe I am a descendant of Lucas Schultz (1172-1825), mentioned as one of Peter Shultz children in the write up of Peter Schultz. However, in the list of Peter's children, only 5 of his 10 children are mentioned. I am finding it very difficult to prove the relationship of Lucas to Peter and wondering if you have any additional information on Lucas. I appreciate any light you may be able to shed on this...
