Bio and Links
Bio Photo About 15 years ago, i spent about a year researching my maternal grandmothers ancestry. What i found were several distant "cousins" who were more than happy to help me with names, dates, and even a wonderful family photo of my Nanny's mother, who died when she was only 24. What a blessing to have these people in my family come alive to me, even though many of the stories were so sad. Now, i am starting to look for my dad's family, and bit by bit, little clues and tiny keys will open up whole rooms full of discoveries. I was so happy to have come across this Find A Grave site, where i found the resting place of many of my grandmother's family, including the one whose portrait hangs on my livingroom wall, James "Jim" Brady. Though i never met him, as i wasn't born until 1948, i saw this portrait hanging on Grammy's wall when i was little, and now it is on my wall. What stories were there, what joys and sadnesses, in those years long ago? I trust that i will see them again one day, when i go to heaven to be with my Jesus, who loves us as He loved them, and holds us all close. o/

Shelly:
Augusta was a Native American born in California with a German father. Her family lived in Weaverville during the beginning of the 20th century. If she is the one you are looking for, we have some additional info. Some of the censuses have them misnamed. Jerry

It was actually J.N. who got the photo for you, so you might want to thank him. I find everyone's family stories very interesting--they help me to imagine what many in my own family might be...

I'm not all that far from the cemetery. I have lots of family there. The last time I went it was in pretty bad shape so decided to photograph all the stones I could before they are lost. Not sure when I'll be making a trip back, but will make a note to check those stones for you. Will also see if I can find anything at the local library next time I'm there. Happy to help however I can.
