I grew up helping my family mow my grandmother and grandfather's grave at Carpenter Cemetery never knowing the tangled mass of underbrush and scrub trees would be cleared years later to reveal a 6 acre cemetery. Now after my parent's passing I am among the generation to stand in place to keep the cemetery from returning to it's prior neglected state. The Carpenter Cemetery Association is the organization doing it. I appreciate greatly all the info the volunteers have placed on this site. Many Thanks!

RE: Carpenter Cemetery
Someone was supposed to put a marker up for Cleo Wright some time ago but I'm not sure if they ever did. I never heard and with my wife's accident and having to care for her I have been unable to find out. Sunset Cemetery is in a fairly dangerous part of Sikeston too, so I prefer not to go there alone.
I've been to Carpenter Cemetery one time but it has been over 20 years ago. My Dad lives just outside of Vanduser near the cemetery.

Yep, I spelled it right on the memorials. LOL! Such a strange name.

Okay, I changed all my memorials to Keunecky. If you hear for John Hinkle and we need to change them back, let me know.

RE: E Dessman Harris
Thank you. I really did work hard going thru adding a lot from death certificates.
Granted, death certificates are not always accurate, but it is a big start. At least people find their loved ones and we can always correct the information from there.
I noticed you added a photo to Dessman's memorial. It looks great, makes the memorial so much more personal being able to see the person.
My baby brother, Johnnie Jay Jones is buried there at Carpenter. My daddy made his tombstone.
