Bio and Links
Bio Photo Throughout my childhood of moving every couple of years, my mother told fascinating stories about her father's family and ancestors in Augusta and Rockingham Counties in the Shenandoah Valley and her mother's family in Beckly and Huntington, WV. It must have given me an anchor in my adult life as I continued to move all over the US, for I began researching her and my father's genealogy at the age of 20 and continued sporadically for the next 45 years as I raised 12 children, went back to school, divorced, went to work full time, remarried and have now semi-retired. Currently, genealogy absorbs all my spare time as I put the finishing touches on what I've gathered (a never-ending process) and send it in print to my 90 yr old mother and her 3 (now 2) siblings.

My biggest concern has slowly developed into telling the stories of those extended ancestors who did not have children to remember them. I have found the best place to store my research online is with It will still be there long after I'm gone.

RE: Byers
I'm sorry but I will need links to the Byers folks. It would be so much easier for me to do this but I also understand your 'robo' problem too. If you could at least send me the person's name and memorial # that would be very helpful. I have over 21K memorials and most of that is at Thornrose! As for my giving away most of my memorials, I am getting older and no longer do cemetery work, can't take the strenuous 'exercise' of taking the photos anymore. With age also comes problems as well so that is my dilemma. Would you please delete this email after you have read it. Thanks and do send the list to me. It will take longer but I can work around that. j

124299351 and 33705018
First I wanted to thank you for all of the information you added about Jacob W Zirkle's family on his memorial, it was great to learn more. Then I noticed that memorials 124299351 and 33705018 are the same person, same gave picture, but not same cemetery. It appears that he is actually in Saint Matthews Cemetery, based on the information you wrote about the location of his stone. If you get a chance, take a look at the two memorials. Thank you for you time and hard work.

Craig Genealogy
Sorry, I took a few months off from researching and forgot all about the info you sent me. So when I asked again and received it a few days later I ran across the info you sent the first time. I'm having a little problem getting started again since I purchased a new program called Legacy 8 and it is so much different! I'm getting it figured out and hope to get going again. The Robert Craig - probable so of James Craig APPEARS to be, by preponderance of evidence, seems ti be my Robert. He also COULD be John's (the oldest son of James Craig) son. So I am still searching for more info. I will probably not solve it unless I get lucky. I have my line complete back to Robert born in 1805 or so in Clermont county Ohio. If you have an idea of another place to look, please let me know. The info you sent me (twice!) sure is plentiful and really helpful. I keep reading it over and over and every time I find something new. Maybe I should buy the references that you quoted and read them myself. Probably won't help tho so I need more places to look. Daley Craig got mad at me and blocked me. I told him that my Robert and Mary sold land in Indiana in the 1870's so Robert was still alive and did NOT die in 1843 in VA!
If my information is wrong tho I need to know so I can continue my searches for the right one.

RE: Craig Genealogy
To be honest, I don't remember getting that info. I am still trying to find documents of Robert Craig born abt 1807 in Clermont co OH bur am having no luck. For a while I was in good standing with Daley. We had a disagreement on my Robert. He said my Robert Craig died in Augusta county VA in 1843 and I found him alive and well from 1840 in OH to Clay county IN in 1870 and recently found him on a land document that he and his wife Mary sold in the middle 1870's. I thought we had two different and he just thought I was wrong. Do you have any info on Robert? I still need help. All I have is a preponderance of evidence saying that he is the son of James Craig born in 1745 in Augusta county VA. If you would like to use my other address it is
I always appreciate any help I get.

Thank you for the additional information. I processed the edit you requested. How interesting that Olive's daughter-in-law worked at a detective agency!

Are you related to the Tesmers?

RE: Craig Genealogy
So far, I believe that I am descended from - starting about 1800 - Robert Craig, son of James Craig Jr since it appears to be him in James Jr's will when named his off spring. I need more info such as dates and places of such things as birth, death, etc. It appears to me that he was born in about 1807 or so in Clermont County Ohio and married Mary Grey Who is born about 1817 in same county in Dec 1831 and dying about 1865 or so in Clay county IN. Mr Daley has him dying in 1843 in Augusta county VA. This is one of the reasons that I am not sure of Robert since I have no definite date of birth and death. Other that that, I believe I am in the William Craig and Jean Stuart line. Would also like to have the date of entry into the USA and where they originated - for sure - in the Scot/Irish area. My father told me twice that our Craigs where from County Clare, Ireland and I can find no evidence of Craigs having lived there - EVER! so I am still looking for evidence of that. Maybe a hint or two of where to look might help me. Oh yes, I have another mail box, it ids if you would like to use it. I am almost the same age as Mr Daley, he is in his 80's and I am almost 80 and still enjoying the search after 10+ years. I also haave another line to investigate, the Fry side (my mothers side) of the family.
You seem to have your family tree nearly completed and you are still having fun searching. Ain't life great!

Craig Genealogy
My name is James W. Craig and my - on again off again - pass time has been discovering my Craig history on my dads side of the family and on my mothers - the Fry history. I have been searching for over 10 years and still keep finding pieces of my history. Currently the pieces of my Craig family "gaps" have been closing and becoming fewer. What you have provided me today will close a few of the gaps making it more complete. I really appreciate it. Where did you find this info? I have only one complex that I will always try to find and that is the actual documents. If I can't I will have to use others people research and hope that helps as much as I think it will.
Again, Thank you
