Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing research in my East Texas area for 30+ years and I love it! I have many resources that I use and am willing to help my fellow researchers in any way I can. I am researching Sanders, Welch, Page, Gunnels, Hooper, Roberson, Young, Hereford and McNair lines in the East Texas area and beyond. My husbands lines are Cartwright, Forrest, Walker, Freeman, Ivy, Baldree and Drawhorn. I have extensive information on these lines and have knowledge of many of the old generations of other names in the area. Just contact me if I can help you in your search. Happy Hunting!

You have a death certificate for the wrong person on this memorial.

RE: Thelma Gentry Hooper
Hi, Cheryl,

Finally getting back to you. Sorry! How very interesting! I knew Verna the best of these sisters. I guess Uncle Bert was living with or near Elsie when he died. I was young and remember his funeral in Palestine and the funeral procession driving all the way from there to King Cemetery near Mt. Enterprise. That doesn't seem so far now, but for a kid it seemed to take forever.

I didn't know any of the rest of them very well. If Dad were still living he could tell me all about it probably. He seemed to know everybody, who they married, where they moved to and so on. Sada lived here and married Frank Bane, a relative of my mother. Ella Ray, I thought, went to San Antonio, Texas, but I see on Find-a-Grave she is buried at Kyle near Austin.

There is probably not a close connection on the Sanders line, but if they came from Georgia they may tie together back there somewhere. Mine left Georgia and went to Mississippi and stayed until the early 1870s, and then came to Texas.

Take care!

Hey, you still around? Cousin. I have been thinking about you. I hope you are well. I hope we may meet somewhere before heaven calls. I may not know you personally but I may have a place in this big old heart of mine for you. Love, Connie Beth

RE: Thelma Hooper
Hi, Cheryl, thanks so much for contacting me about the correction I sent for Thelma Gentry Hooper. That was an error I made but didn't notice in trying to make the edit. As far as I know she died in Florida. At least I know she moved to Florida and I assume she died there. I have gone back and deleted that edit and resubmitted it correctly. Glad you noticed!

I am related to Thelma on the Whitten side of my family. My paternal grandmother and Winnie Gentry were sisters. So my father and Thelma were first cousins. The surname Sanders is on my father's side also. His father's mother was a Sanders. They came from Mississippi and settled in southern Rusk County, Texas. Where are your Sanders from?

Hope you have a blessed day. Take care.
