I've been working on my wife's and my ancestry for a number of years now. The majority of my memorials are in our backgrounds, however if related or not, I feel the more research done, and information provided to each memorial, as well as linking family members, the greater benefit it is to the next person researching.
Please feel free to use any of my photos, I am not looking for recognition. They have been taken to assist others.

Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone.
The names and the dates are chiselled out
on polished marble stone.
It reaches out to all that care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse,
Not entirely on our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you.

Elizah (Hugh) Polk
Hi Ronald,
I'm curious about the grave photo you took/posted of the Elizah Polk grave in April 2017.
The grave is very weathered, so difficult to tell the writing on it. But where does it say "Hugh"? Or are you linking Elizah to a Hugh you have seen from another genealogy source, via dates?
I can make out "Elenor Polk" at the top, and "Elizah Polk" at the bottom. But I'm struggling to see "Hugh" - or even the space for that to be written.
Elizah is also commonly a female name. There are other Eilza's (no "h") in the Polk family tree - all girls.

I had wondered if you would like him transferred to you! Feel free to remove the posting by Kenora Great War Project if you want.

They are listed on the Beechwood register Thomas Short and Eliza Derrick. Let me know if you have need of any other info and I will see if I can find it.
