Bio and Links
Bio Photo My Mom and Sister and I spend quite a lot of time taking/uploading photos and cemeteries for FindaGrave (on my Mom's account). We live in Central Ohio and try to concentrate on old graves of young wives and little children --- the people most often forgotten by the usual lists.

As far as personal interest, I am an avid student of William Wilberforce and the "Clapham Sect". Lately, I've been researching the Eliot Family of Port Eliot in St. Germans. This has been really fun, and I've been working on adding their graves to FindaGrave (at first, I did this on my Mom's account --- then had to spend ages transferring them to myself!)

I welcome any edits and/or additions.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth. Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

RE: St Germans Old Cemetery in Cornwall
Hi there

Just back from St Germans and that ghastly cemetery. And all my clothes are in the washing machine. The 'path' which looked so stable turned out to be what I can only describe as a sheet of mud! I collapsed gracefully into it three times and got very, very muddy.

So if I go again, I need to wear Wellington boots with good soles.

It's built on a hillside at nearly 45 degrees. The graves run up the hillside and there are only a couple of paths which go up the hill. It was the horizontal path which was so muddy. It's also very overgrown. Thankfully the grave I was looking for had a very distinctive shape which so it wasn't too difficult to find. Just to get to...

By all means let me know the names. There seems to be no grave numbering visible in the churchyard. Perhaps the parish council or Record Office have a plan? I think that would be essential as its also dark in there.

I'm not discounting going again - St Germans is a lovely village - but don't think it will be this side of next spring unless we have some unseasonable weather to dry the ground out.

not my family so not bothered either way, just seemed better for her to be linked to the real memorial and the cenotaph be the hyperlink

noticed you have linked her memorial to a Cenotaph rather than to the original memorial, I think it would be better if you did it the other way around if you really think he needs a cenotaph

Update her memorial. I've recently added Barbara Wilberforce's Spooner ancestors to Find A Grave. I know of your interest in her family.

RE: Thomas and Peggy Geake Memorials (St Germans, Cornwall)
Hi,
We visited St Germans a few years back whilst gathering as many photos as we could for filling entries created on Find A Grave for Stoke Climsland Cemetery. As an entry for St Germans existed I added the memorial I came across, took a few other photos there which I didn't add as they turned out to be a little blurred, although readable.
The same with the War Memorial, names engraved are unreadable. Not sure whether it was me or the camera being used! Will add them to the appropriate Cemetery as I guess even a blurred shot is better than nothing!
I have requested via the Forum that these two are moved to the entry as per your suggestion. Other than deleting and re-creating them I know of no other way to do this.
Also, I wonder if you have viewed the 'Map' for the location of each of these Cemeteries at St G?
If incorrect would you kindly amend them please.
Looking at the one you refer to the photos I took were on that side of Church Rd, from memory I feel the location was nearer being underneath the 'h' of that road name on the map that Find A Grave displays. The 'Pin' is centred upon the Priory, which is incorrect I'm sure.
I can be contacted via john.kath.p@btinternet.com should you wish.
Thank you for your praise, although I feel unworthy having made a fundamental mistake here!
Kind Regards,
John

James Hamilton (1686-1744) Find A Grave Memorial# 176680694
Hi, I was just reading your entry for James Hamilton Earl of Abercorn. The entry says HE married Elizabeth Reading, dau of Sir Robert Reading, but then you have Elizabeth Reading listed as his mother. Can you please check this out and correct what needs correcting? Thanks!
