RE: Hilger/Lauer photo
Thanks, Darcy. John Lauer would have been my great uncle. My grandfather was the youngest in the large Hilger family.

Now I just found out that John and Anna Maria Lauer are not even buried at St. Mary's! (I called the cemetery.) Their granddaughter told me and said they are buried up north near Appleton where they lived. So, now I am trying to find out where they really are buried. Am also checking on another great uncle & hope he's where findagrave says he is. Stay tuned.

John & Anna Maria Hilger Lauer Wedding Picture
Hi Darcy,

The wedding picture you posted for John & Anna Maria Lauer is really that of her brother, John August, and his wife, Eva Hanf. The picture I just posted is from one of the Lauer's grandchildren. I know it isn't very good, but it's the best she has. If you have any questions, get back to me. Thanks.

Oswald Brower
Okay after contacting another family member, I found out that Oswald was Red Brower. And also the younger brother is Comet Theodore.....

I checked with other family members and none have ever heard of Clarence W on that I don't know. Also, which is strange, none of the relatives I checked with know for sure the names of the parents. But Faye is the sister of Clarence A Brower, that we do know. Do you have any information on Red Brower? He was the oldest Brother of Clarence A Brower....and thanks for the help.....

RE: Eles Ann Vorhies
Thank you again!

I have added the plot information to their memorials, and also removed the photo request for Nathan's. I put a note on his that it is apparently unmarked.

RE: Eles Ann Vorhies
Does the map happen to indicate plot numbers for Nathan and Ellice which could be added to their memorials, to make it easier for other researchers to find them?

Thanks again!

Ellice Voorhees photo request

Thank you very much for your work on this request! I'm sure that you have found the right person, since the date of birth is exactly what is given in a listing of Oregon pioneers compiled by the Oregon State archives. I think the death date I gave was someone's guess posted at RootsWeb.

As for the spelling of her name, that is all over the map on the records that I have found also. Since her first name was out of the ordinary, people often would spell it phonetically, which may have been the case with the stone carver. And I don't think that the family had agreed upon a standardized spelling of the surname by that time -- even a simple name like mine (Wilson) had variant spellings during that era, most commonly "Willson".

Thanks again, and have a great weekend!
