Hi, I have always been interested in history & so have most of my family members. I am fairly new at this so I thank all of you "old-timers" at Find a Grave for your help. I will be happy to transfer any memorial over if I am not closely related. Feel free to send me a message. Any Information or photo I add is for anyone to see & share. I just ask that it not be used for commercial purposes. Just like life, my memorials are a work in progress.

Milton Sloan
I am doing research on Milton Sloan. I was interested in this entry you are maintaining, because I am a descendant of Nancy Margaret Sloan who married William Harris Tyner.

When I looked up the Compiled Military Service Record for Private Milton Sloan, Company H, 41 Indiana Infantry Regiment it said that he was 18 years old as of November 28, 1861, and was born in Chester Co., Pennsylvania (see https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40578190, image 43 & 48). If he was 18 in 1861, he was born in 1843 and therefore could not be the same Milton Sloan who was born in 1805 in Kentucky. He also could not be the father of Nancy Margaret (1834), Benton Grant (1839) and John J Sloan (1847).

The latest census I have found, shows Milton Sloan (born ~ 1806 in Kentucky) in the Kansas State 1865 Census (Stranger Township, Leavenworth County, Kansas). Benton and John J were listed in the same household.

Obviously I was hoping that this Milton Sloan was our guy, but unfortunately he is not.

Take care. Cindy Norton

Jared and John Ford
My sister and I were at the Winterset Cemetery yesterday looking for some Ford graves and the caretaker there took us to Jared's grave as we are decedents from him. Beside him is Elizabeth and on the other side of her is J. E. Ford, who I think is John Erwin that you have requested. I got a picture of it too. At the time yesterday, I did not know that you had requested these pictures. The pictures are on my sister's phone and we have to have her daughter get them off for us (we are not tech savy!). It may take me more than two weeks as my niece lives 45 miles from us. I will post them when I get them. Phyllis Harwood

Ford family
You have a lot of information on the family of John E Ford, and it adds to my feeling that his grandfather as well as my husband's ancestor John Ford are of the Faure/Ford family. I've never been able to show a link between Jared & John, other than their starting a church together, let alone prove or disprove a huguenot ancestry. If you can help me, I would surely appreciate it - & would be glad to share what I have.

RE: Estella Dieter-Green
Tks for your reply. Well, Sadie Estella Dieter was daughter of John Dieter & Lizzie Geist. She married 3X-William Henry Spotts, Michael Ellsworth Green, & Joseph Phinchisi "Phoenix". Sadie's DC says she died at home of Mrs Bud Bryant Benham, Ripley County, IN. Sadie did live in Ripley County, IN so I suppose they were neighbors/friends.

My great Aunt passed away at the home of Lois &
Linville "Bud" Bryant Benham March 8, 1940. I was wondering if you knew of their "connection".
