Bio Photo "A Parable of Immortality"
by Henry Van Dyke.

I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says, "There she goes!"
Gone where? Gone from my sight ... that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her, and just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There she goes!" There are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout. "Here she comes!"

👉There will come a time, sometime in the future, in which no one remembers the person and their name is spoken for the last time. Then, the person is truly gone.
I believe we have an obligation to preserve the memories of persons from our own familial past and present. Let us keep our ancestors and loved ones alive forever by never forgetting that if it were not for them we would not have existed.👈

I'm sorry it has taken so long for me to respond to you, I have been away from the site due to family issues. I'm hoping to be more active again now that things are setting down. I would be happy for you to add me to your friends. Thank you, Sherry

RE: Your Find A Grave Memorial# 58647182
There is a Joel Dickerson born to Alva Cole and Rosemond Freeman - birth and death dates match James - is that a possibility? Do you have records with the name James on it?

Greg -
We have been researching our Cole family on Ancestry and have hit a Brick Wall at Wharton's parents. From what we could find, he father's name was entered as Dickerson, Dickison, etc. etc.
Now on Wharton's Find A Grave page he is named as James Dickenson. Do you have information or know that is correct?
ANY information that you have that could help us get past this point would be greatly appreciated. We are in Michigan so have to depend on the kindness of others. You can contact me at
Many thanks,
Mary Ellen Hermann
