Elsa Stevens Thornton
hi Bruce,
the 1850 census gives Elsa's birth place at Vermont. Just trying to sort out where I should be looking since you give her birth place as NH. Do you remember where you got the NH data point?

RE: Clement Corbin Thornton
I don't... Stevens is like Smith around here--so many. They were married in Unity on 9 Mar 1833 (both living in Acworth) so I suspect she's from the Stevens family that is clustered in the Plainfield/Cornish area... descendants of John Stevens (and Experience Coit). Her birth location of Sunapee throws me for a loop though... where did you find that?

There is a Sarah "Sally" Stevens Pillsbury in the same cemetery that might be Elsie's sister.

You can reach me at if you prefer.

I sent you an update for this memorial and mistakenly wrote "Annie Gleason"... her last name was actually "Gibson"...

thank you,

Thornton Family
I see you took pictures of Stephen Thornton and family in Acworth. I am descended through his daughter Dorcas. I'm guessing we're cousins of some kind.

RE: Gravestone photo taken
Glad to help Bruce. I met George Caram several years ago, we're from the same town. I had hoped to take this photo much sooner than this but I don't get out much anymore. Thank you for your contributions to find a grave.

RE: Guptill Gravestone
Thank you for the lead Bruce. I happen to have Achorn Cemetery Records, but I'm sure they could be helpful for the gazillion other questions I have.

RE: Guptill Gravestone
Thank you Bruce. I have recently found the burial location at Achorn Cemetery. Avenue F, Lot 750.

I have been trying, by process of elimination, to find out about a memorial for a J Guptill (no other information) located in the Ingraham Cemetery in Owls Head, might be or been intended for. Tracking down all the J Guptill's has been a chore!

Thanks again,

Walter Guptill

RE: Etta May Snow gravestone
Happy to help. We also posted a photo for her husband, George. They should be linked up soon, when the edits are addressed by the person who manages those memorials.
